I don't remember the last time I felt so overcome with sadness. I am fully aware, however, that the empathy I experience in the warmth of my sturdy, secure home is inevitably ignorant. I don't pretend to understand. Most of all I don't understand why sorrow is so unfairly distributed. I hadn't been looking at the images all week...I just couldn't...but you're right to post them. We need to look at them and accept our responsibilities to help these people.
