I was uptown for an appointment less than two weeks ago when I decided that I was way too close to Central Park to not go for a little afternoon walk. Hurricane Sandy came and wreaked havoc a few days later and yesterday the tri-state area was hit by a nor'easter that has further crippled an already devastated area. I (vaguely) remember when fall days were about enjoying nature's magic of colors, wearing warmer clothes to guard from cool breezes, and anticipating the holiday season and the excitement of a winter wonderland to come. Not so anymore, it seems. My heart breaks for all of my fellow New Yorkers and our neighbors in other states who are still without power or heat.
New York Cares is having a coat drive and the Robin Hood Foundation is a great place to donate time and money, if you're able to.
