There are tons of amazing parks in downtown Manhattan for kids and grown-ups alike and we have made it an unofficial goal to go visit them every single day this summer. Last week, with the temperatures relentlessly hovering around 95 degrees, the last thing I wanted to do was be outdoors (even with the insane amount of sunblock that we go through on a weekly basis) with the girl but how do I tell my her "sorry, no park today"? She's a city kid and we go out every single day with multiple trips to the sand box so it would not go over well.
Then my sister discovered this not-so-hidden treasure in the middle of Battery Park. Under a beautiful canopy of trees lies this modest circle of splash pads and our girls had the most incredible time there. With all the super fancy and innovative parks in the city (which we admittedly LOVE and appreciate so much) you forget that all kids really want is a fountain to run through. You won't see many New Yorkers since it's in a location where tourists are usually congregating on their way to some place else but it's just lovely and simple and a fantastic escape from the blistering sun.
This is new...putting her hand in front of my lens.
