Oh, New York

Red Umbrella and the City

Sometimes I take it for granted that I live here.  When a lot of your days are filled with trips to the playground, playdates and runs to Whole Foods you can forget to stop and look around and remember that you're doing all of these things in one of the most fascinating cities in the world.  One of my favorite things about traveling is really immersing myself in the culture and day-to-day of a place.  Afternoons are spent walking and sightseeing, and enjoying long, lazy meals.  Back home, a place where millions of people visit each year, I feel like I'm always rushing and forgetting to stop and enjoy the little details that make this city what it is.

I've been working on taking myself back to basics and remembering the days when I took the long way home just because and took the time to enjoy the moment around me.  There are so many things happening here all the time and it can get so crazy and hectic that you really have to make a conscious effort to just stop and look around at everything that make this place so unique.
