Fantasy and the City

Visiting the holiday windows is one of my favorite New York traditions (remember this and this?) and every year I am blown away by the art created behind the glass at Bergdorf Goodman.  I've seen so many photos of the windows all over the internet that I just could not wait to see them for myself.  Every single detail was over-the-top and whimsical and glamorous and fine.

And I love to see New York reflected in the windows -- it's one of my most favorite details in these images and the ones I've shot in the past -- because after all, New York is nothing if not full of fantasy and whimsy and pretty much whatever you want it to be...especially during the holidays.

I was so inspired by all of it and took so many photos that this will be a two-part post.  Take a look...

What are your holiday traditions?

And, because I love me some black and white, I can't help but share this one...and, there's more where it came from!

The beastly heads are wonderful - love the fantasy element they lend the window displays.

the bird heads are fantastic... and also sort of freak me out.

i agree with rebecca, fun yet a little scary at the same time. this takes me back to finding your site two years ago with these same storefront windows. the way you capture reflections draws me in. love your work so much.

gorgeous! We have these giant display windows downtown at Holts and the Bay. They are my favorite. When I lived close by I always took an hour or so in the evening to grab a starbucks hot chocolate and take a peek.
