I was just looking through my personal archives and couldn't help but laugh. Dinners at my mom and dad's were never mellow or low-key. There was always a friend or other family member - cousin, aunt, uncle, grandparent, whoever - who was stopping in or joining us. I grew up in the kind of house where dinner for four quickly turned in to dinner for 12 in no time. And, since the arrival of three very sweet, opinionated, funny and loud little girls and their dads, and one very charming boy in a dog suit, it's gotten even more beautifully chaotic.
