As if my Friday could not get more exciting, I had a scheduled lunch with three of my favorite bloggerinas - Megan and Kristin from BonBon Rose Girls and Lisi from The Beauty File. After our meal I was going to head over to Lincoln Center to take some street style shots when Megan surprised us with tickets to
Rebecca Minkoff. Woot! I love fashion week and my friends!
Our seats were in the very last row but hello?! seats? I was all set to stand which would have been amazing too! It was a bit difficult to get the shots that I imagined but it was such an experience to be sitting at a show in the tents and not standing on the media riser or in the standing room only section. I sat on my leg and occasionally stood up to shoot and I kept turning to Kristin since we both seemed to be obsessing over the same pieces.
There were some pretty fabulous people there (aside from us, natch) but when the lights were turned off my focus turned to just one: Sean Lennon. Yes, Sean Lennon was there and he provided the music. I thought it sounded familiar and at first I didn't know they were live - it was so dark and it sounded so clear and perfect. I was about to tweet that I was at the show when I noticed another tweet from someone who was there announcing that the music was live and that it was none other than Sean Lennon and his girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhl who were singing. Swooooon. I nearly passed out.
The lights came back on slowly and before the models came out they started singing one of my favorite songs ever by Serge Gainsbourg. At that point I was already in love with the show and the experience. I'll let the fashion experts (Fashionista) tell you about the clothes (they were fabulous and so ME - I particularly loved all of the different textures in the collection - chiffon, fur, silk, leather....sigh.) Here are some photos that I shot. My vantage point turned out to be pretty cool.
