When you live in the city the noises out on the street just melt into the background - I rarely even hear the sirens or horns except lately when I'm nervous that they might wake my sleeping baby. I just usually block it all out. And, more often than not Lucia sleeps through all this chaos.
But out in the country, when the wind picks up and rustles the leaves or blows against our windows, it's like a lullaby. The background noise is so quiet - but, so quiet that I actually hear it rather than block it out like in the city. I shot these photos this weekend - some of my first of the year - and they just seems so peaceful and serene and quiet.
When things get crazy in the city and I feel overwhelmed I think of moments like these. I can hear the snow crunching under my boots and the branches blowing and all the other quiet of the country.
