Happy Monday, friends!
Friday got away from me and before I knew it the week was over and I skipped a day on the blog! It definitely happens from time to time and this time I blame it on the busy holiday season!
What I had planned to blog about is this great new book, The Daily Book of Photography, that was sent to me for review.
It's pretty clear to professional, amateur and non-photographers that there’s much, much more to photography than simply snapping or viewing a pretty picture. For me photography is personal and it's about capturing a moment - it can be something that is seemingly inconsequential but it means something...something to me. Photography moves me and intrigues me. And, this mysterious and mechanical art form has a rich history that invites deeper exploration. This book,
The Daily Book of Photography, provides 365 readings that will teach, inspire and entertain you - one reading for every day of the year. Packed full of beautiful pictures and stimulating information, this photography book is a staple for everyone who loves to point and click.
The daily readings featured in ten rotating categories offer a colorful snapshot (pun intended!) of the people, places, and events that have shaped the evolution of photography. You can start the year off with a practical lesson on the art of simple picture taking and then learn how famous photographers, from Ansel Adams to Robert Mapplethorpe, have helped us see the world differently. Dozens of original photographs from talented photographers are featured throughout the book and guest contributors show current innovations and new twists on old-school (ie. non-digital) methods for truly spectacular images.
The categories include Photography 101, History of Photography, Famous Photographers, Nature and Landscapes, Portraits, Sports and Photojournalism, Fashion and Beauty and Social and Political Commentary.
I really, really love this book. Just flipping through it I found so many great tips, ideas and inspiration. It offers great information and visual storytelling from a collection of unique voices from the world of photography.
