Welcome to Life

Congratulations dearest Monica and welcome lovely Lucia Isabella!  I’m Chic ‘n Cheap Living, a native New Yorker and lover of art and inspiration in any form.  Monica is the one that told me art can come in any form – fashion, photography, etc.  

I hope you enjoy my musings on one of my favorite art forms - a classic magazine and it's timeless pictures.

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words.  This was probably a key reason why Life magazine, an American all-photographic magazine was so popular for 40 years; Winston Churchill and Harry Truman even serialized their memoirs in its pages. I loved flipping through the pages of Life because it was a glimpse into history.

Life magazine not only captured the experiences and moments of famous contributors, it also depicted the lives of ordinary citizens as they lived through a few Great Wars, cultural revolutions, political divides, and well, just plain life.
