I hope you enjoy my musings on one of my favorite art forms - a classic magazine and it's timeless pictures.
It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. This was probably a key reason why Life magazine, an American all-photographic magazine was so popular for 40 years; Winston Churchill and Harry Truman even serialized their memoirs in its pages. I loved flipping through the pages of Life because it was a glimpse into history.
Life magazine not only captured the experiences and moments of famous contributors, it also depicted the lives of ordinary citizens as they lived through a few Great Wars, cultural revolutions, political divides, and well, just plain life.
Here are a few famous images from their pages:
…a long-awaited reunion between lovers
...a breakthrough musical group relaxing and having some fun away from the crowds
...girls running through their Saturday morning routines
...achieving a dream and savoring a private moment
...making history and having a grand time
Which Life magazine shot touches you most?
