sometimes it's good to wear sandals in the fall

We were out in the country this weekend. It was a little chilly but I'm not over my gladiator sandals from the summer yet so I wore them anyway. We had lunch and then decided to go pumpkin picking at a nearby farm.

Everyone else got right in to the pumpkin patch but I was a bit of a baby with my exposed toes. Also, I didn't want to ruin my fresh pedicure or my new pants. I tend to go off and wander on my own at times and this is especially true when I have my camera around my neck (ie. always). While everyone else chose their pumpkins, I walked through a corn maze and into an open field on the other side of the high corn stalks. It was just as dusty and muddy on the other side but my discovery was so delightful I didn't care...gladiator sandals and new skinny jeans be damned. Since when am I afraid of getting a little dirty?

Flowers aren't always my best and they certainly aren't my favorite subject but how can anyone not feel a little bit inspired by this scene? Or, at least hopeful that we still have a few days of summer left with the real fall and (gasp!) winter on the horizon?
