Remembering John Hughes...

I'm so sad by the death of John Hughes. I heard about it on Twitter and announced it in the middle of the sushi restaurant where we were waiting for our dinner. There was a collective sigh from all the people in the place.

Sixteen Candles

I know a lot of people have been saying this and it is so true...his films shaped my childhood. The first time I saw Ferris Bueller's Day Off was at a sleepover in the house I grew up in. The first time I saw Sixteen Candles was on a cable channel with about 800 commercials - we rented it a few days later and watched it again and again.

Ferris

And the Breakfast Club..."he'll get up! we'll all get up! "it'll be anarchy!"

And Some Kind of Wonderful...Watts is putting on the diamond earrings says..."What do you think?" Keith replies..."You look good wearing my future." I just saw this movie for the millionth time the other day and I still got the goosebumps...

Do you have a favorite quote?

I came across this deeply moving tribute to Mr. Hughes via Gawker. You cannot miss it.

I must have watched Some Kind of Wonderful over 50 times. The Breakfast Club was awesome too. What a crying shame. He was so young.

This is definitely a sad loss... But he will live on through his classic films.
