I Know a Girl...Who's Like the Sea

I'm having one of those days where one minute I feel one way and the next I feel something completely different. I was going through my archives and found an entire folder filled with images that I never looked at again after I shot them. They were just collecting dust on my hard drive. For some reason I opened it up today and there they were waiting to be (re)discovered.

I started to think about my mood today and I was processing I noticed the changes in the images and I remembered the different moods of the ocean that day. One moment the waves were crashing yet behind the crazy thunder of the crash was a calm, flat sea. In another image the wind is blowing the top of the wave in the opposite direction of where it wants to go...of where it has always gone. I was meant to rediscover these photos today if for no other reason than I found a metaphor, and an appropriate U2 song to describe the many moods of me on any given day.

Today is one of those days that needs two songs so even though I already posted this morning...I need a double dose this afternoon.

*******

I know a girl who’s like a sea
I watch her changing every day for me
Oh yeah, oh

One day she’s still, the next she swells
You can hear the universe in her sea shells

Oh yeah, oh

No, no line on the horizon
No, no line

I know a girl with a hole in her heart
She said infinity’s a great place to start
Oh

“Time is irrelevant, it’s not linear”
Then she put her tongue in my ear

Oh, oh

No, no line on the horizon
No, no line
No, no line on the horizon
No, no line

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

The songs in your head are now on my mind
You put me on pause
I try to rewind, love, and replay

Every night I have the same dream
I’m hatching some plot, scheming some scheme
Oh yeah
Oh

I’m a traffic cop, Rue du Marais
The sirens are wailing
But it’s me that wants to get away
Oh

No line on the horizon
No, no line
No, no line on the horizon
No, no line
