Whenever I travel I make a list of my favorite things about each place. Do you?
I love lists and I'm not so good at keeping them short and sweet. This list will not be an exception but I'm going to try to narrow it down...so this will not be all-inclusive. I would be here all night if I tried to think of everything and I still have a few hours left to enjoy in this marvelous city before we move on to the Tuscan countryside.
So, without further ado, and in no particular order...some of my reasons for loving Florence.
Being able to walk absolutely everywhere.
All the bells of all the churches ring at the same time. It sounds like a giant echo.
The streets are crowded and loud in the main squares and at the major sites but if you walk down one, random, narrow, side street, all the noise seems to disappear and it's as though you are the only person in the whole city.
Tiramisu flavored gelatto.
Gelatto, in general.
14 Euros lunch prix-fixes menus that include three courses and a piccolo carafe of vino tinto.
The people are so genuine and friendly.
Climbing to the top of the Duomo (without passing out).
Giardino di Boboli.
All the teeny, tiny streets.
A delicious trattoria on every, single corner.
The ceiling of the Basilica della S.S. Annunziata.
The colors of the facade of the Duomo.
Shoes and bags everywhere!
