The City of (Holiday) Light

Paris is indeed the City of Light. All year the monuments and avenues are beautifully lit up but during the holidays the French dress their capital in the best and brightest of colors. This was more apparent than ever during my most recent trip there last week. On one particular evening we braved the extremely cold weather and went out for a stroll along the Champs-Élysées. It took us 30 minutes to walk one block...

These are all straight from the camera.

i am so envious, these pictures are so beautiful. even *i* would brave the cold to see all this, but i am thankful you took pix instead and i can enjoy in the comfort of the indoors. :)

i am trying to learn how to take pix in the evening light. this particular post is very inspiring and makes me want to leave work now to play around outside with my camera. thank you for that.

I love the photos of the Champs-Elysees! When I studied abroad I used to walk up and down the Champs at night with the lights in the trees, just drinking in everything around me.

I am COMPLETELY in awe, Monica. Paris, this time of year, is obviously spectacular. I can't believe those ferris wheel shots... and the street scenes with all the lights... I am going to have to go back and soak them all in some more. Truly gorgeous.

PS: Love the new banner!
