Autumn in New York

We went out for dinner for D's birthday in Tribeca. We walked along Greenwich and then turned up Duane to catch a cab on Hudson and even though it was only 2 blocks, I was cold. I went out with just a light sweater and I was chilly. Tonight might be the first night of the season that I need an extra blanket. It seems that it happens almost immediately in New York. One day the weather is lovely - it's sunny and warm and all you need is a light jacket over a summer t-shirt and you feel okay in your summer sandals and light jeans - the next you can't walk two blocks without feeling...chilly.

I love this time of year. I can feel chilly but it's nothing that a warm sweater and cozy scarf can't fix. I love weekend walks in the parks and quiet side streets, pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks for breakfast, followed by tall glasses of Pinot Noir in the late afternoon. I love the way the light shines through the almost bare trees and the colors on the ground after the leaves have fallen. I love the crisp breeze on my face and that my hair is rarely frizzy because the air is so dry and cool. I just love it. It almost makes me look forward to winter because I know that we have to live through fall first.
